The Great Orme Summit & Copper Mines
Whether you walk, drive or take the tram, The Great Orme is the best place to see breath-taking views of Llandudno and the surrounding areas all the way to Anglesey. The Orme is a special area of conservation because it contains habitats and species that are rare and threatened in Europe. The Great Orme is a spectacular 2km wide, 3km in length and 207m high. It is made of limestone grassland and has always been a very popular place to visit with over half a million visitors each year. At the Great Orme summit there is a complex where you can discover the history of the Orme and Llandudno. You can grab a bite to eat in the cafe/restaurant or visit the gift shop and remind yourself about your visit. The Orme also has a children's play area and a mini golf course.
The Great Orme also has a Bronze Age Copper Mine which is the largest in the world! You take a self guided tour through the mines and discover 3,500 years of mining in North Wales. The mines were uncovered in 1987 by a group during a scheme to landscape the area.
